How to organize MA clambakes

By

If you are living in Massachusetts, a clambake is the perfect summer party. Everyone wants to throw MA clambakes. It would be perfect if you could get your own spot of beach. If it is not possible, don’t let it stop you. Bring the beach to your house and get your own bit of sand, surf and sunshine.

The invites

Start as you mean to go. Begin with your MA clambakes invites. You can keep a beach theme. You can stick some see shells to the invitation card or get one that has a beach theme. You can even put a bit of beach sand in the envelope. Another unique idea is to do with the messy nature. You can send a bib with the invite. Or for a truly personalized invite, get the invite printed on a bib.

The venue

Whether it is your backyard or your dining table, set the stage for your clambake. The backyard, of course, has better possibilities. Transport the beach to your yard. If you have space for a sand pit, put some shells there along with the sand. Add a bucket and shovel. If there is no place for a pit, get a sand pail for the same purpose.

You can tie some helium-filled balloons in the shape of lobsters or clams. You can also hang plastic lobster, anchors from the trees. To bring this whole theme indoors, keep the sand pail at one end of the room. You can also make it a table centerpiece and place candles atop. You can tie the lobster, fish or anchor shaped balloons to the chairs. Tie the chairs together with fishnet and put some small shells or plastic lobsters in it.

If you are planning a picnic-style clambake, use large beach blankets. The table can be covered with a checkered tablecloth in red and white. A nautical-themed tablecloth is also a good idea. Continue the theme for crockery.

The food

What is a clambake without the seafood? In traditional MA clambakes it would mean steamed seafood in a sand pit at the beach. However you can go for the barbeque if it is in your backyard. Indoors, your stovetop is also a good substitute. However, for a convenient option you can also get it catered from one of Massachusetts’ best clambake restaurants.

A clambake is a time to relax and have fun. If you can’t make it to the beach for traditional MA clambakes, bring them to your own house.
